First public participation event for Thun’s Energy and Climate Strategy
Event Date: 25 April, 2022
In April 2022, the city of Thun launched a participatory process to develop its Energy and Climate Strategy. To this end, the city invited its citizens, the local business community, politics, academia and civil society organizations to discuss the goals and strategic thrusts of the Strategy in a workshop, called the Soundingboard.
The climate strategy of the city of Thun is divided into two key documents:
- The Roadmap defines the goals and strategic thrusts of the individual areas of buildings and heat, mobility, energy production and distribution, and consumption.
- The Action Plan defines the measures to achieve the goals and quantifies, where possible, their impact.
The three-hour workshop focussed on the Raodmap and was structured in such a way that the more than 60 participants worked in groups to evaluate the proposed strategic thrusts according to relevance and level of ambition and to supplement and adapt them.
The participants’ suggestions were then discussed in the Steering Group (key group to the strategy process) and, if they were deemed feasible and represented clear added value, they were included in the Roadmap. The adjustments to the Roadmap were communicated transparently to the participants via the online platform E-Mitwirkung.
