Padova Charts the Path to Climate Neutrality

As part of the European Commission’s Net Zero Cities Mission, Padova has emerged as one of 100 European cities and 9 Italian cities selected to lead the charge toward climate neutrality by 2030. This recognition reflects the city’s commitment to sustainability and innovation, underscored by its submission of a comprehensive Climate City Contract to the European Commission this past September.

Driving Local Climate Action in Denmark

DK2020 helps Danish municipalities align climate strategies with the Paris Agreement’s 1.5°C target. Supported by regions, it promotes Climate Action Plans (CAPs) focused on neutrality by 2050, adaptation, social inclusion, and governance. All municipalities now have CAPs, collectively aiming for a 76% emission reduction by 2030.
Projects like Klimaalliancen and LIFE ACT drive implementation and capacity building, while participatory approaches ensure inclusivity. Challenges remain in resources and coordination, highlighting the need for multi-level governance to align local and national efforts for sustainable climate action.

León City Council Launches Climate and Sustainable Energy Campaign

The campaign, running from 18 to 29 November, promotes León’s Sustainable Energy and Climate Action Plan (SECAP). Activities include a presentation of the 2ISECAP Project and a guided tour of the Renewable Energy Demonstration Centre, emphasizing the vital role of renewable energy in addressing societal challenges. A video showcasing León’s efforts in mobility, buildings, green spaces, and urban services will be shared on social media to further raise awareness.

Promotion of Energy Upgrade Actions in Karditsa

As part of the 2ISECAP project, the Municipality of Karditsa, supported by AN.KA. S.A., is promoting environmental awareness and sustainability. Italian cities pioneering climate neutrality

On April 10, 11 and 12, Duezerocinquezero, the National Forum on Energy and Sustainability, now in its third edition, was held in Padova.
One of the first events scheduled at the Forum was dedicated to the great challenge in which the Net Zero Cities, the 100 European cities called upon by the European Commission to reach the climate neutrality goal in 2030, twenty years ahead of the European target, are involved.
