The campaign, running from 18 to 29 November, promotes León’s Sustainable Energy and Climate Action Plan (SECAP). Activities include a presentation of the 2ISECAP Project and a guided tour of the Renewable Energy Demonstration Centre, emphasizing the vital role of renewable energy in addressing societal challenges. A video showcasing León’s efforts in mobility, buildings, green spaces, and urban services will be shared on social media to further raise awareness.

In this newsletter, you can read about the Transnational Living Lab (TLL), a collaborative platform within the 21SECAP project that supports an inclusive energy transition for governments, organizations, businesses, and communities. You’ll also learn about Local Energy Coalitions (LECs), introduced by the 2ISECAP project, which enhance cross-sectoral cooperation among various stakeholders. Additionally, we cover Living Lab Training Modules that provide education on methodologies and tools developed by the University of Applied Sciences in Western Switzerland. The newsletter further features highlights from recent 2ISECAP events, including regular stakeholder meetings that focus on community collaboration and progress in energy transition strategies.

The General Assembly of the Association Energiestadt (European Energy Award) in Yverdon-les-Bains was a success, gathering over 100 participants under the theme “Achieving More Together.” Key discussions focused on participatory processes, resource management, and their role in effective local energy policy implementation. The assembly featured the 2ISECAP Project as a strong example of promoting cooperation among energy stakeholders and supporting localized, sustainable energy solutions. Energiestadt cities like Yverdon-les-Bains are becoming “living laboratories” for energy transition, leveraging citizen involvement and participatory planning to drive progress.

As part of the 2ISECAP project, the Municipality of Karditsa, supported by AN.KA. S.A., is promoting environmental awareness and sustainability. Key efforts include educating the public on energy-saving measures and implementing the ‘Improving Energy Efficiency of Third Sector Enterprises’ program, which upgrades energy use in businesses within the trade, services, catering, and tourism sectors. A video was produced for this purpose.

In the framework of the 2ISECAP project, the Municipality of Karditsa, supported by AN.KA. S.A., is proactively involved in raising awareness among citizens about energy conservation. Through collaboration with diverse institutions, they are leading efforts to educate the public on energy-saving measures.

On April 10, 11 and 12, Duezerocinquezero, the National Forum on Energy and Sustainability, now in its third edition, was held in Padova.
One of the first events scheduled at the Forum was dedicated to the great challenge in which the Net Zero Cities, the 100 European cities called upon by the European Commission to reach the climate neutrality goal in 2030, twenty years ahead of the European target, are involved.

On February 21st, the fifth Living Lab meeting, a collaboration between the Tartu City Government, Tartu County Municipalities Association, and Tartu Regional Energy Agency, took place. The focus of the meeting was on the opportunities of the circular economy and its role in achieving Tartu’s climate goals. The event also marked the initiation of drafting Tartu’s circular economy roadmap, a significant addition to the city’s climate and energy plan.

In December 2023, the City of Padova launched an information campaign, which appeared on city billboards and on some streetcar shelters, to raise awareness of the city’s path toward decarbonization. The message chosen for the initiative was “Together towards Padova 2030, a zero-emission city,” designed to make the participatory dimension of the project and involve all citizens in this ambitious challenge, which, to be won, needs everyone’s contribution and commitment.

On January 10th, 2024, part of the 2ISECAP training material was presented at a scientific event called “Participation and Transparency in Planning Processes. Social, Technological and Institutional Innovation” that was organized and hosted by the Department of Planning and Regional Development of the University of Thessaly, Volos, Greece.

On December 18, 2023, our project partner @University of Brescia, together with the @Ordine degli Ingegneri di Brescia, the Italian Centro Nazionale di Studi Urbanistici (CENSU), and the University Research and Documentation Center for the 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda (CRA 2030), organized a seminar titled “Which instruments for cities’ energy transition?”.
